Mobile Computers

In the field, Varasset runs on Windows-based laptops, tablet PCs and ultra-mobile computers.  If your field operations employees already have rugged laptops, they can typically use their existing computers to run Varasset.

Synchronization

One of Varasset's most powerful features is its "one click" sync.  When the employee is in the field, with no network connection, they access an extensive database on the mobile computer.  This provides the employee with a rapidly accessed full history of all assets, including maps and associated photos and files.

When the employee establishes a network connection, all collected data, including photos, is uploaded to the main Varasset database at the utility.  Simultaneously, all new data is downloaded, including new poles, corrected data, new codes, security updates and new workflows.  Employees can sync from any internet connection--at home, at a wi-fi hotspot, or from an aircard.

Varasset's hardware integration allows you to connect your mobile computer directly to many mobile devices:

Digital Photos

Take photos and videos of assets or conditions (e.g., NESC violations, heavily-loaded poles or damaged equipment) and they automatically become part of the Varasset record.  These can be shared with managers, regulators or joint use partners.

Varasset allows you to perform inspections, maintenance and correction activities of all sorts, including:

Mobile Mapping

Varasset's GPS functionality shows your current location on the digital map, allowing you to quickly navigate to nearby assets.  You can collect or correct latitude / longitude coordinates for your assets.

Configuration

Varasset is easily configured to follow your processes and standards.  The workflow and screen layout are configured to make inspections extremely efficient and accurate.  After the field work is completed, follow-up work is queued and notifications sent to managers. Problems are tracked in a timely fashion and not left to an unreliable paper process.

Field employees can configure their screens, optimizing the toolbars, maps and zoom level to their own mobile computer and preferences.
